Mudcat Charlie's sits conveniently on Ricefield Way in Brunswick, a spot where the salt air and local fishing culture blend into the dining experience. This seafood restaurant caters well to anyone looking to enjoy hearty portions of coastal-style dishes without the fuss or upscale price tag found elsewhere in the area.

The vibe here leans into that relaxed fish camp feel — no pretense, just straightforward, well-seasoned seafood and Southern favorites. You’ll find yourself choosing between fried oysters, boiled shrimp, or the flagship Mudcat Platter while soaking in views of the nearby marina. Though the outdoor deck is sometimes undergoing maintenance, it offers a casual spot to watch fishermen at work or spot local wildlife like an occasional alligator, adding an authentic local flavor to your meal.

Mudcat’s menu is broad, serving up everything from shrimp salads and tuna appetizers to fried gator bites and deep-fried crab balls. The sides like sweet potato fries and their uniquely dressed coleslaw complement the seafood well, making it a good pick for both classic tastes and those craving a bit of local character. Folks often swing by for lunch or dinner, especially when the weather is warm enough to enjoy that deck seating overlooking the river.

The service is generally warm and attentive, with staff quick to anticipate needs, though some visits note a slower pace at times during busy hours. Bathrooms reflect the no-frills setting—clean but due for updates—keeping with the casual, lived-in atmosphere rather than a polished, modern feel.

Mudcat Charlie’s works best for locals and visitors who want an honest seafood meal in a spot where you can kick back and watch the daily rhythms of Brunswick’s coastal life. It’s a place to settle in for a relaxed lunch or early evening meal, especially appealing if you enjoy waterfront scenes without the rush or high costs of tourist-heavy destinations.

2/18/26 Delicious creamy clam stew with a view of the river. The shrimp salad in the whole wheat tortilla shell was very good as well.

Perfect fish camp style restaurant. Food was delicious and nowhere near the cost of other places we have been. Generous portions. House salad had us almost full before the food came out. Staff was wonderful. Anticipating your every need. Bathrooms were to what I expected. Not dirty, but needed to be upgraded. We sat inside, but would consider sitting on the deck overlooking the marina next time. Thanks for a great experience and leftovers!

The tuna appetizer, salmon dinner, and french fries were delicious. Everything was seasoned well, and the sauces were good as well. The service was somewhat slow, but I'd still return for the ambiance and food - This is my new favorite place for seafood in the area, and the views are great. I'd recommend the salmon and substituting the fingerling potatoes with French fries

Our favorite go to place. Delicious as always. Service was just off Friday at lunch. Never asked if we needed anything. Hard to eat without something to drink. Also I would've loved a piece of Banana Foster Cheesecake, but never asked. Might just be me. Had to go to bar to pay, cause waitress never came back. I'll be back cause I love this place, but I hope I'm waited on this time?

Excellent food, awesome drinks, and great service! The restrooms were exceptionally clean and it was a great atmosphere. We had boiled shrimp appetizer, blackened shrimp platter, salmon platter, and blackened fish nuggets everything was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned!

What a wonderful surprise on our drive home from Florida! The food and service were amazing, and you can’t beat the atmosphere right in the water. Great place to stop for a meal with very good prices. Highly recommend stopping here especially if you’re traveling through.

Atmosphere was scenic. We were sitting on a patio type area with a nice view of the river and the bridge. Food was delicious. There was a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Would recommend the jalapeño slices and calamari. Overall,it was a great dining experience, would recommend.
